In addition to his role as leader of Swing Speak, Steve Wolf is also a member of an acoustic duo with guitarist Mac Walter. Steve and Mac met in the late 1980's while performing as members of the Deanna Bogart Band. Three years and six European tours cemented a lasting personal and musical friendship. Mac and Steve first appeared as a duo when they were asked to open several of Deanna's shows during one of those European tours.
Their unique approach to acoustic music has continued to evolve, and as a result, the two have decided to perform together on a more regular basis. Concerts typically include a mix of acoustic swing, jazz, latin, and of course, the blues. Mac's virtuoso solo acoustic guitar compositions are also a highlight of most performances. (See performance schedule below.)
In addition to their frequent duo performances, they were both members of an acoustic trio led by singer, songwriter Barbara Martin. Her recent recording "A Different View," was produced by Steve and engineered by Mac. They've also just started work on a new recording with Barbara which should be released later in 2006. The success of this collaboration has encouraged them to begin their own solo project which is due out by early next year.
